5 reasons to practice martial arts

Since here at Waragod we don't like standing still, and we always want to keep moving forward, we have expanded our product range with the brand Katsudo, which offers products for martial arts and combat sports. From now on, our offer includes punching bags, various striking equipment, gloves for combat sports and accessories for karate, taekwondo, jiu jitsu or wrestling. In the following article, we will therefore discuss why it is good to practice martial arts and what benefits it brings.

We will not talk only about traditional disciplines such as karate, taekwondo, jiu jitsu, but also about modern sports such as MMA. All of them have something in common - they teach us not only combat techniques, but also self-confidence, humility, respect and discipline.

1. Self-defense

The first benefit of combat sports is that they give you an advantage in self-defense. We also encounter opinions that comparing training and real life is not entirely correct, since outside the gym a person may be affected by other factors - one of them being stress. It is true that in self-defense you never know what to expect from your opponent, whereas in training you practice precise grips and movements. However, combat sports can help you gain confidence and teach you to better assess a situation.

2. Setting the mind

Martial arts are not only about physical endurance and strength, but above all about setting the mind. Thanks to concentration and proper breathing, you will learn to get rid of stress and negative emotions. It causes a physical change in the brain that supports better memory and learning. They reduce stress also thanks to the fact that you focus on the present and on the things you can control at that moment. These benefits later transfer into your personal life as well.

3. Flexibility and correct posture

In addition to psychological benefits, they also bring physical ones - mobility, agility, flexibility, muscle strength and better coordination of movements. These are just a few of the many benefits you gain through regular training and discipline. We must not forget the aesthetic side either - muscles and a strong body.

4. Discipline

Regular training will also sharpen your discipline, which leads to a better setting of your goals. It teaches you how important continuous work and improvement are in achieving them. Again, this is one of the benefits that you will also make use of in your personal or professional life.

5. Team spirit

Even though martial arts are usually practiced individually, teamwork is still part of them. Thanks to membership in a club, a sense of belonging is created, and lifelong friendships are often formed as well. They teach us how to earn respect and, at the same time, how to show it to others.
