Neoprene is a polymerized rubber made from a substance called chloroprene. It is a synthetic material that is very flexible. It was invented in the 1950s, since when it has gained high popularity thanks to its excellent properties. It is a multi-layer material that is filled with gas bubbles. These prevent heat loss. They give neoprene a low density and provide buoyancy. Modern neoprenes are high-quality, waterproof, resistant to UV radiation as well as to abrasion and oils. The material perfectly follows the body and ensures that the thin layer of water that gets under the neoprene does not circulate, but instead warms your body. This way it protects you from the cold the whole time you are in the water. Neoprene is used mainly in a number of water sports, such as canoeing, kayaking, surfing, paddleboarding, windsurfing, kiteboarding, diving and swimming.
